• Position Reports to: School Director
• Start Date/End Date: 2024-2025 School Year
• Hours: 7:30am-4:45pm + some out of school time responsibilities
• Compensation: $52,000-$105,000 (Please note that this is a general range; salaries are determined based on credentials and years of experience)

Position Summary:

Study, practice, and execute rigorous and engaging lessons that maximize scholars’ physical activity
Revise lessons for clarity, rigor and relevance, with guidance and support from instructional coaches
Proactively design and teach routines and procedures that maximize instructional time and minimize time lost to transitions and material organization

Manage spacing of scholars and equipment to ensure physical safety
Set and enforce school expectations. Teach and integrate character education and teamwork into daily activities. Effectively track and evaluate scholar achievement and participation to pinpoint scholar needs
Maintain accurate records of student information and assessment data.

Collaborate in teams and with coaches to resolve challenges and implement instructional improvements driven by quantitative and. qualitative data. Proactively seek and implement feedback from team leaders and coaches to improve their practice. Above all, our teachers care deeply about their scholars, who inspire them to achieve life’s greatest joy: doing good work well.

Qualifications:

• Experience with children
• Background in exercise science/physical fitness/personal training/health
• Undergraduate degree by first day of work
• 1-2 years experience teaching in a charter, public, or private school
• Successful Candidates Will:

• Have experience working in a charter school
• Maintain strong classroom management skills
• Hold certification in Physical Education or have a degree in Physical Education or another health-related field
• Show alignment to Classical Charter School’s mission and approach
• Exhibit excellent work ethic and organizational skills

• Have experience teaching in a high performing urban school

2. Athletic Coach (Track) 2024-2025

Capital Preparatory Schools is a charter school management organization operating a network of educational communities. Our mission is to build a path where there was none. From its inception, the Capital Prep community—our scholars, parents, faculty, and staff—have come together to create a compelling and meaningful educational experience.

The Capital Preparatory Schools has four school locations: one in Harlem, one in the Bronx, New York, and two locations in Bridgeport, Connecticut providing students in grades K–12 with a year-round, college-preparatory education that encourages students to become scholars and agents of change. Capital Prep Middletown is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024.

Athletic Coach at Capital Preparatory Schools

Capital Preparatory Schools seeks passionate coaches who have demonstrated leadership.

Title responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the Capital Prep Schools athletic program;

• Establishes goals, objectives, and values for the program consistent with mission of athletics department;
• Provides regular practice sessions in and out of the season
• Motivates student-athletes to perform to maximum levels;
• Provides conditioning and training of team members in conjunction with the training; unit to ensure that student-athletes are physically prepared for competition;
• Utilizes sound teaching techniques in the preparation of games and practices
• Follow the administrative procedures established by Capital Prep Schools as published in the Athletics Policies and Procedures Manual
• Enforce team travel standards for behavior and appropriate dress
• Oversee training and care of student-athlete team members
• Select, supervise and provide guidance to assistant coaches while monitoring and ensuring their professional development
• Conduct a performance evaluation for full-time and/or part-time assistant coach (es).
• Performs any and all duties as may be assigned by Administration.

Skills:

• Experience/Training:
• High School degree requiredValid Connecticut Driver’s License required or able to obtain; able to obtain passenger endorsement on license and a driving record
• Valid CT coaching certification if located in CT
• CPR/AED/first aid certification;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Coaching and /or participation at high school level preferred; demonstrated ability and passion to teach and demonstrate skills of sport applying for;
• Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends
• Willingness to fundraise;
• Ability to interact with all levels of the school community.

Compensation:

Salary for this position is commensurate with experience. Capital Preparatory Schools offers an athletic coaching stipend at a rate of $3,000 – $10,000
